Game #5 Summary

(AP)

Let's Start off with this:

Hanover + Ref 4
Missile 2

Judging by the smirk on the face of the Hanover players at the end of the game, it was obvious they knew that the ref helped them earn 3 tough road points versus the Missile.

The game started on time and temp was about 39 with the Humidity. Don came up big early and the Missile D line with Dale, Jim and Waldo were holding down the fort. That was until a good cross from the Asian machine found a foot in the 18 and the score was 1-0 visitors.

The game moved back and forth with Vin, Vince, Erin, and Wade making positive gain in the mid. The Strikers then moved up field and finished a nice shot in the far left side to take a 2-0 edge. With about 2 minutes left in the half, Clay hit a great pass to Simes who lobbed a pass over the d where Kev finished showing that he indeed does have two feet. Hanover complained that it was offside, but to no avail. If the ref would have made this call, and it would have been the wrong one, then he would have indeed had a 100% crappy game.

At the half, it was 2-1 Hanover. Kicks and cards in favor of Hanover was 13-2.

The second half started as most 2nd halves in Missileville do...with whole sale changes(as Terry put it) and an early goal. V was hug making the score 2-2 but then feeling the lingering pain of an injury which forced him out of the game.

The game continued while subs Sean, Erin, V, Darryl, and Davey helped increase pressure and push the Hanover d back hard.

This was all for not as the ref made another terrible call giving Jim a yellow for getting kicked. This was his 2nd and therefore a piece of our world class d was mangled for the remainder of the game. Hanover neatly finished a 3 goal on a decent cross in the 6 this time and they put the icing on the cake when Rudy took a pass and delivered a good header into the top corner.

We had 22 fans on hand to see this and they left with their heads down and were visibly bothered by the result, and knowing that this ref was paid for his performance!!

The Missile now have a week to recover as they take there act on the road all the way to Blumberg to face AC Fiorentino Wednesday the 29th.

Game #5 Missile vs. Strikers from Hanover

Wednesday, June 21, 2005 @ a special time 7:45 at SC CC, your hometown Missile will play host to rivals from Steinbach. The Strikers are a good team and based on last year's accomplishments, it should be a good match.
IN 2004, Hanover was 14-7-1 64 GF and 46 AG.
The MIssile were 11-8-3 with 30 GF and 30 AG.

This seaons, the Strikers sit at 1-1-1 with 6 GF and 5 AG. Your hometown Missile are 2-1-1 with 10 Gf and 5 AG.
Here is a link to the current standings:

Last season's series was tied at 1 win a piece. Hanover defended homefield advantage with a 3-1 win in what would be called the "WATER BOWL". The field was more wet than Hobsen Oval during a flood. When teh Strikers came to Winnipeg late in the seaons, the Missile showed them who was boss earning a 3-0 win.

Pride and ranking will be on the line Wednesday due to large fact that a Hanover win would put them in a tie for 2nd place while a Missile win could put us in 1st.

Father's Day Massacre

The Saint James Missile battled the Crew in front of 33 screaming fanatics. These fans were looking for a hot performance and one that would move the Missile back into contention.

This games started with Captain Kev going to lose the toss. It would be the only loss they would feel today.

The game started with a good pace in the 38C weather (with the humidex) and all players were giving it there all. The Missile had not scored first in their first 3 games and this was there main goal today. On a free kick over 35 feet away, Clay received a great pass which he hammered into the top shelf past the Franco keeper. 1-0 Missile. The Missile then used sound D by Jim, Dale, and Wade to move the rock to the mids who were moving it on to Davey and Kev who were created time , space, and opportunity.

Vince placed a great shot in the far top shelf and made the score 2-0. The fans were loving it chanting "Howie, Howie, Howie." Howie thanked his Dad for making this possible, and the under armor.

With 10 minutes left in the half, Clay hit a great corner to Kev, who headed it to Wade in the 10 yard box. Wade then perfectly rocked a header into...The top shelf again. The Crew goalie kept cursing in French no one cared. Not even his Dad.

At the half, Coaches Terry, Brent, and Josh mentioned that we were playing good but that we needed to finish more of our opportunities.

The talk, and 5 subs must have helped. V, Sean, and Erin made immediate impacts with the hustle and Daryl almost put one away. Don came up with a save, and the fort was held down nicely.

With 20 minutes left, Dave K was sent in from Erin all alone on a breakaway and he finished it wonderfully past the second stringer. 4-0. Subs came in a Roy nicely finished a goal on a set play (?!?!?) and Erin took out a Crew player to send Kev in who passed over to V for his first of many this campaign.

Vic Router says " Make the final Missile 6, Crew 0.

Great game and early in the season, if there ever was a must win, this was it. The Missile will now celebrate and start to prepare for Hanover. They are a Big talented team from Steinbach and season ticket holders should be in for a great match Wednesday at Sturgeon Creek. Maybe it will be lined and Brent won't need to get in his evening work out.

The Missile are coming off a 12 day rest and sit at 1-1-1 with 4 goals for and 5 against. Solid D and the mids and forwards look forward to scoring early....And often.

Please get your tickets now because Sunday, one ST. James team will get to say

Missiles Coaching Staff

Game #4

The Missile look forward to a HUGE match tonight versus KING HEAD.
The game has been moved from Missile home turf, to Blumberg #7 with a 6 pm kick-off. The reason for the move is to accomodate more fans, and not because of the little drizzle that has fallen recently. :)

The Missile will look to move our 1-1-1 record over .500 for the second time this season.

As of press time, the game is still on....however.....rain may cancel this match too!!!

Big Missile Weekend coming up!!!!

This Friday, your home town Missile will attempt to shake off a game 3 3-0 loss to the Blue Blazers. The Blazers won this game thanks to Mother Nature and the great equalizer....rain. There was some great ball movement and things to look at positively.

This Friday, the Missile will look to go 2-0 on Home turf as they host Mundial.
In 2002, Mundial moved up to division 3. In 2003, they moved up to division 2, then in 2004, after a quick cup of tea with the big boys, they were demoted to division 3.
This season, Mundial look to continue their downhill trend as they are currently sitting at 0-2. The Missile are looking to light them up.

The game is a at a very special time 7:00 pm.

Please get your tickets as we are looking to set a new 2005 attendance record.

Game #2 Recap: The Comeback Kids

The outcome of yesterday's Manitoba Major Soccer League Division 3 match easily could have been decided after the first 15 minutes when the upstart Penerolians took a 2-0 lead that carried over to the half. The score could have increased to 3-0, but Penerol's GIANT goalkeeper whistled a Penalty kick wide left. Missile did not even manage a shot on goal in half number one, but Vinny, and Simes were running hard and Erin, Jim, and Wade were making amart one.

There were some great speeches, and positive attitudes on the Missile bench during half time.

When the game resumed, right off of the opening kick, Saint James pushed and put endless pressure on the Penerolians. This lead to a penalty kick goal for the Missile. V told Kev to just place it, and that he did, almost through the netting. The emotion was high and within 3 minutes, Erin passed a ball to V, then to ROY who fooled all with a nifty goal which tied up the game at 2-2. The Penerol bench was flustered and they were saying all sorts of things, which, no one could understand.

Play continued and the Missile D dominated the air attack and Dale, Dave, Jim, and Clay were outstanding. Erin knocked a corner kick into the box that Jim smashed just wide of the left post. What a cracker said Terry from the sidelines.

With about 15 minutes on the clock, Missile continued to move the ball nicely up field when Vin hit V who hit Kev, who hammered a shot that the GIANT could not handle and Davey nothced a HUGE goal. Davey has a great nak for being in the right place at the right time. Not only did the Missile now have a 3-2 lead, but it was there first lead of this young season.

Penerol pushed up and Don had an answer to all the attacks. Then, with 7 minutes on the clock, Davey gave Kev a great throw-in that he used and abused the GIANT for his second goal of the game and game Saint James the insurance goal.
As Vic Router would say: MAKE THE FINAL Missile 4 - Penerol 2.

Second year Missile coach Josh was pleased with the team's performance, "You know going into the game it's going to be a tough one. It's always a battle with a promoted team. Our team played physical tonight and was able to come back after an two early scores. It was a good start to the week and hopefully we will only gain momentum through Saturday."

Missile attendance was at a season high of 23. They were out to support the team and to see the new ball "great pick Brent".

Next Missile action is at 7:00 at the Gary Hobson Oval versus Blue Blazers. The same Blue Blazers that ended out play-off hopes in 2005!!

Keep an eye on the Blazers site for trash talk:
